What is the Merchant Navy Commemorative Theme Project?
The Merchant Navy Commemorative Theme Project (MNCTP) promotes the sacrifices and contributions of Allied Merchant Navy and American Merchant Marine Veterans as the mainstay of the Allied Forces victories in both World Wars. In addition, highlights their critical efforts in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
The MNCTP bridges the gap between the present day shipping industry and its glorious and predominantly forgotten past. By interconnecting historical fragments into a united whole, the MNCTP ensures that the valiant stories of our seafarers are told alongside their military and other civilian counterparts. Also, safeguarding its historical integration into the national and international mosaics of our rich maritime heritage and culture.
In 2015, the MNCTP launched the Allied Merchant Navy Promotions and Commemorative Celebrations (AMNPCC) as part of our new Global Maritime Promotion, Integration and Outreach Strategy (GMPIOS). The AMNPCC has been created to unify nations of the world under common veterans’ and maritime themes. Thereby, showcasing our veterans' worldwide contributions to peace and democracy on the international stage, throughout the last century, and beyond. The AMNPCC is the foundation for building a global partnership among nations of the world, public and private sector and non-for-profit organizations, educational institutions, the general public, and much more.
The Never Forgotten National Memorial Foundation is committed to Honouring Canadian War Dead… Where Ever They May Lie. There are more than 114,000 Canadian War Dead that lie burried in foreign countries., lost at sea, or otherwise consumed into the landscapes of war, and these Heroes deserved to be honoured on Canadian soil with a unique and truly magnificent memorial.
Who Were They?
